Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements for special education in California?

In California, children qualify for special education enrollment under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) if they have a condition that impacts learning. An evaluation determines eligibility, followed by an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Our program supports families through the special needs registration and enrollment process with individualized, evidence-based care.

Public schools must provide a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) and cannot deny enrollment because of an IEP. While challenges with placement may arise, families have options. Our early intervention program offers autism early intervention and ABA support in a nurturing setting, while collaborating with school districts when appropriate.

Special needs programs often break down 4 categories: developmental, learning, physical, and emotional or behavioral. Every child is unique, and needs may overlap. Our team provides individualized support through our early childhood intervention program, using evidence-based methods like ABA therapy.

A 504 Plan provides accommodations, while an IEP includes specialized instruction and services. Schools may recommend a 504 if needs are less intensive. For children needing structured therapies, early intervention ABA within an IEP framework is often more appropriate. We guide families through each step to ensure the right level of support.
